FYW 100 - Introduction to Academic Writing / Polansky, Ellen

Subjects: First Year Writing

Welcome

For this short assignment sequence, you are asked to identify and engage with outside sources so that you may explore a topic area pertaining to generational differences. After you complete this exploration, you will take a position on your area of focus to write an academic argument (Join the Conversation: Take a Position). You will need a variety of credible sources to bring depth and breadth to your final written project for the course. This guide will help you to:

  • Browse and read recommended articles on topics relating to generational differences
  • Discover relevant sources of data and information
  • Identify popular secondary sources of information, such as news media and other forms of journalism, including podcasts
  • Identify scholarly secondary sources, such as academic journal articles
  • Set-up Google Scholar
  • Document your sources in MLA style
