Newspapers at RIC

The RI Digital Newspaper Project is an ongoing endeavor to make Rhode Island’s historic newspapers freely available online.

The Rhode Island Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing Rhode Island’s history.

Providence Public Library is a 140-year-old nonprofit corporation providing free public library services through print, recorded and digital collections, information resources, programs of interest and relevance, and expert staff.

The Rhode Island State Archives is charged with maintaining the permanent records of state government. The “State Archives and Historical Records Act” created the State Archives as the “official custodian and trustee for the state of all public records of permanent historical, legal or other value.” The State Archives holdings of historical records, dating from 1638 to the present, are available to the public for research at our Westminster Street facility.
