Final Project

Leadership image with block lettersConduct research on a leader who has a major scholarly biography written on them.

You need 9-10 sources

The biography will need to be a “thick book” written by a scholar. You know a scholarly biography because there is an index in the back and the book is heavily footnoted or referenced. Besides the biography you are using, you’ll also need at least 9 other references. These references could be a TED Talk or another scholarly video, a reputable website reference (not Wikipedia), a scholarly blog or an interview of a scholarly expert (can be done in person or through e-mail).

Look for

  • Leadership theory, research and practice.
  • Belief systems underlying leadership qualities and competencies.
  • The science and research of whether leaders are born or made.
  • The latest research and information in the fields of history, psychology, management, and education to study historical and contemporary leaders.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate knowledge of your person
  • Make connections to your person's leadership style and qualities
  • Make connections to their research and the class reading
  • Explain and give examples of the leaders' Multiple Intelligences
  • Project is organized, professional, creative and engaging

Check Your Data

  • Cross-check your sources
  • Find multiple sources that say the same thing. If two sources disagree, consult a 3rd source.
  • Many times websites simply repost information that originally appeared on Wikipedia.
