This course guide contains a small group of recommended tools for finding academic sources on topics pertaining to the theme of this course.

Getting started:

Before searching for academic books and articles, you might look for a topical overview, background information, or general explanation of the issue you're studying. Credo Reference, a tool containing full text entries from specialized encyclopedias and other reference books, is a good place to look for overviews and explanations.

Credo Reference provides an online collection of over 600+ reference books. This collection includes a wide variety of general encyclopedias and handbooks, as well as a broad range of subject-specific titles covering everything from art to geography to psychology to science.
One of Credo's unique features is the presentation of a "Concept Cloud" of subjects related to the initial search idea. Thus Julius Caesar is also discussed within the results under "Roman Republic" and "Gallic Wars."
