Job Description

Reference Assistants aid in the daily public-service tasks of the reference desk. These tasks range from monitoring, reporting and troubleshooting computer and printer issues; keeping the reference collection and surrounding area tidy; providing simple public service, such as basic library materials searching, providing directions and answering the phone; and shelving and shelf-reading the reference collection materials. 

Qualifications

  • Customer service skills and an energetic attitude,
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions,
  • Courteous and effective communication and interpersonal skills,
     
  • Preference for students with library, education or IT experience.
  • Preference for students with conversational or higher level of fluency in another language.
