ELED 436 - Teaching Social Studies to Diverse Learners

Research Study

Each semester, Dr. Gurjar and I work together to teach ELED 436 students research and information evaluation skills. You will be writing reflections and creating presentations and interdisciplinary units for your classroom lesson plans.

As part of this process, Dr. Gurjar and I have been looking at how the C3 Social Studies Framework that you use to construct your interdisciplinary units connects with the Association of College and Research Libraries Information Literacy Framework. Specifically, how do these two pedagogical frameworks overlap?

Dr. Gurjar and I are conducting research on this topic. We would like to ask for your consent to use portions of your anonymized class reflections, interdisciplinary units, and interdisciplinary unit presentations, as well as our class observational discussion notes for journal publication and presentations on the benefits of library research instruction with preservice teachers.

We will go over everything in our September 6 library class. If you would like to help us, we will ask you to take a short 5-minute online anonymous demographic survey which includes your prior library use. However, your participation is voluntary! You won't have to do any extra work beyond the normal classroom assignments for ELED 436.
