Books in world history (not the United States or Canada) will generally have call numbers beginning with "D." Many of the books dealing with historical aspects of European states and societies are classified in the Ds. However, countries discussed in the context of foreign relations with another country or countries may be classified elsewhere (i.e. E = American history). See also areas such as BP for Islam as a religious element or pan-national Islamic influence.
