Article Databases for Art Education

Art & Architecture Complete
Art & Architecture Complete includes full-text coverage for hundreds of periodicals dating back to 1937 and additional full-text for hundreds of books. Contains selective coverage for nearly 60 additional publications and a robust collection of images provided by Picture Desk and others.
Art Index Retrospective, 1929-1984
This archival database features high-quality indexing of historical literature on a variety of art topics from the years 1929 to 1984. Chronicling over half a century of art literature, it covers fine, decorative, and commercial art. Art Index Retrospective contains hundreds of titles from feature articles, interviews, film reviews, book reviews, bibliographies, exhibition listings, conference reports, anthologies, and editorials.

ERIC

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. Provide extensive access to educational-related literature. ERIC provides coverage of journal articles, conferences, meetings, government documents, theses, dissertations, reports, audiovisual media, bibliographies, directories, books and monographs.
JSTOR

RIC currently participates in all 15 JSTOR Arts & Sciences archive collections and the Life Sciences archive collection. Journals in archive collections are always included from volume 1 number 1, and related prior titles, but stop short of current issues. RIC also subscribes to 34 current journals in JSTOR. The entire corpus is full-text searchable, offers search term highlighting, includes high-quality images, and is interlinked by millions of citations and references.

Google Scholar

Setting-up Google Scholar Library Links

Google Scholar is a search engine for finding references to journal articles and other academic sources. Google Scholar will also show you how many times an article has been cited and by whom. When you are on campus, Google Scholar should automatically recognize that you are searching for articles at RIC and display the full-text links. If you are off-campus, you will need to set-up a "Library Link" to Rhode Island College using your Google account.

To set up “Library Links” in your Google account:

Go to http://scholar.google.com/ and click “Sign in” in the top right corner.

Once signed-in, click the bar icon in the top left corner.

Click the gear icon.

Click “Library Links”, type “Rhode Island College” into the search box, and select all options for Rhode Island College full text.

Click Save.

Run a test search. You should see at least a few links to “Full Text at RIC” in your results list.
