Sarah attended Library School (at the State University of NY at Buffalo) with the intention of becoming a children's librarian. Her first job after obtaining her master's however, was at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, Vermont, where she realized she really enjoyed working with college students and collaborating with other academic librarians. She spent 17 years as the director of the library at Southern Vermont College. After SVC closed in 2019 she guided the North Adams (MA) Public Library through the pandemic before moving to Rhode Island and returning to academia. RIC students remind her of what she loved about the diverse and hard-working student bodies in her former institutions.
When not working, Sarah can be found gardening, hooting at owls with her daughter and husband, or warming her toes in the sand.
