Ask a Librarian

You can ask a librarian questions in a number of different ways. You can:

  • Stop at the Reference Desk on the 3rd floor (main floor) of the library.
  • Call us at 401-456-8125.
  • E-mail us through our web form: Ask a Librarian
  • Text us at 401-309-0590
  • Use the CHAT bot on the Library homepage

Printing, Copying

Printing from the Library computers and from the ScanPro digital microform reader/printer is provided without charge from an allotment of 250 pages per semester.

Your RIC ID card, through your Points account, is your Photocopy card. If you have forgotten your RIC ID, a photocopy card can be purchased for $1.00 from the Borrowing Services Department which will make change if needed .  You can  Add Value to your Points account on your RIC ID at the Campus Card office in the Student Union.  Though Photocopying costs $0.05/page, Scanning on the photocopier is free.

Ask THIS Librarian - for a personal research CONSULTATION

Use the RESEARCH HELP page on the Adams Library homepage to schedule a personal consultation with me. You can also contact me directly:  Prof. Tish Brennan at pbrennan@ric.edu or 456-8125.

I can answer questions and support you regarding search strategy, resource discovery, and other aspects of your specific research needs.  Folks in the Ivy League pay a fortune for this level of "concierge" librarian consultation.  You just need to ask.  I look forward to working with you.

HELIN Library Consortium

The HELIN Library Consortium is composed of 7 academic libraries including the Community College of Rhode Island, Johnson & Wales University, Providence College, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, Salve Regina University, and Wheaton College.

Use the Library Catalog to find books, documents, DVDs, and other materials in the library. All the HELIN libraries share this online catalog, so you will see holdings for other HELIN libraries. Your RIC ID card will allow you to borrow books from all these institutions either online through "Place Hold" (HELIN request) in the Library Catalog or in person.

If you do not have a RIC ID, get one at the Campus Card Office in the Student Union. Your card can be used for:

  • In-person borrowing
  • "Place Hold" (HELIN) requests (average turn-around time is 3 to 5 working days) and
  • "Request Item" (Interlibrary Loans) - items not held in RI may take 10 days to 2 weeks
