Library Card

Your RIC ID is your library card throughout the HELIN system, once you have registered it at Adams Library. Ask at the Circulation Desk, and they will put your ID into the library system. (If you do not have a RIC ID, get one at the Campus Card Office in the Student Union.) Once registered at the Library, you can use the card for:

  • In-person borrowing
  • "Place Hold" (HELIN) requests (average turn-around time is 3 to 5 working days) and
  • "Request Item" (Interlibrary Loans) - items not held in RI may take 10 days to 2 weeks

Printing, Copying

Photocopying and printing from the Library computers and from the ScanPro digital microform reader/printer costs 5 cents per page. The Borrowing Services Department will make change.  Your RIC ID card, through your Points account, is your copy and printing card. If you have forgotten your RIC ID, a photocopy card can be purchased for a $1.00 from the vending machine in the Photocopier, Printing and Microforms Area.  This machine can also Add Value to your Points account on your RIC ID.  A card is necessary to use all the copiers, the ScanPro digital microform reader/printer, and the printing system in the library.

HELIN Library Consortium

The HELIN Library Consortium is composed of seven academic libraries including the Community College of Rhode Island, Johnson & Wales University, Providence College, Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, Salve Regina University, and Wheaton College.

Use the Library Catalog to find books, documents, DVDs, and other materials in the library. All the HELIN libraries share this online catalog, so you will see holdings for other HELIN libraries. Your RIC ID card will allow you to borrow books from all these institutions either online through "Place Hold" (HELIN request) in the Library Catalog or in person.
