Finding Journals

To look for a specific periodical, click on the Articles & Databases tab of the library homepage and use the Journals by Title search. A search for the journal, Canadian Ethnic Studies, for example, indicates what years (issues) are in print and what are in electronic format.

If you find an article without a full-text link (PDF or HTML), use the Full Text Finder link, to search for the article in other databases, in print or in other HELIN libraries by clicking: Check the catalog for this journal title.

Indexes and abstracts over 11,000 magazines and scholarly journals in all subject areas with over 7,000 in full text. Coverage dates vary.

Full text access to current and back issues of the American Anthropological Association's periodicals. Coverage varies by publication, but generally covers the 1990s to the present.

On-campus users at Rhode Island College see additional links in the right side column of Google Scholar search results which facilitate access to the library's full text articles. Off-campus, the same library links may be used by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right corner (next to "Sign In"). Select "Scholar Preferences" on the drop down menu, scroll down to "Library Links," then type in the box "Rhode Island College"

HeinOnline contains titles of historical and government documents. In addition to its collection of academic journals, HeinOnline contains the entire Congressional Record, Federal Register, and Code of Federal Regulations, complete coverage of the U.S. Reports back to 1754, and treaties, constitutions, case law, world trials, classic treatises, international trade, foreign relations, U.S. Presidents, and much more.

RIC currently participates in all 15 JSTOR Arts & Sciences archive collections and the Life Sciences archive collection. Journals in archive collections are always included from volume 1 number 1, and related prior titles, but stop short of current issues. RIC also subscribes to 34 current journals in JSTOR. The entire corpus is full-text searchable, offers search term highlighting, includes high-quality images, and is interlinked by millions of citations and references.
